What are the characteristics of zinc alloy die casting?
1. Density is higher than aluminum alloy;
2. Good casting performance, can die casting complex shape, thin-wall precision parts, casting surface is smooth:
3. Surface treatment: electroplating, spraying, painting:
4. When melting and die casting, no iron absorption, no corrosion, no sticking mold;
5. Good mechanical properties and wear resistance at room temperature.
6. Low melting point, melting at 385℃, easy to die casting.
What should be paid attention to during use?
1. Poor corrosion resistance. When the impurities in the alloy composition of lead, cadmium, tin exceed the standard, resulting in casting aging and deformation, the performance of volume expansion, mechanical properties, especially plastic significantly decreased, a long time or even rupture. The solubility of lead, tin and cadmium in the zinc alloy is very small, so they concentrate on the grain boundary and become the cathode, while the aluminum-rich solid solution becomes the anode, which promotes intergranular electrochemical corrosion in the presence of water vapor (electrolyte). Die castings are aged by intergranular corrosion.
2. During aging, the microstructure of zinc alloy is mainly composed of Zinc-rich solid solution containing Al and Cu and Zn-rich Al solid solution, and their solubility decreases with the decrease of temperature. However, due to the rapid solidification of die castings, the solubility of the solid solution is greatly saturated at room temperature. After a certain period of time, the phenomenon of supersaturation will gradually be relieved, and the shape and size of the casting will change slightly.
3. Zinc alloy die castings should not be used in the working environment of high temperature and low temperature (below 0℃). Zinc alloy has good mechanical properties at room temperature. However, the tensile strength and impact performance are significantly reduced at high temperature and low temperature.
